IROKO SOLID WOOD FLOORING

Iroko is a large hardwood tree from the west coast of tropical Africa. It is sometimes referred to as “African Teak,” although it is not related to the teak family. The wood is initially yellow in color but darkens over time to a richer brown. Due to the high cost of genuine teak, iroko is often considered a more affordable alternative. It is stable, durable, and has an overall appearance somewhat similar to teak.

The tree is quite large and can reach up to 160 feet in height. It is straight, cylindrical, and can be clear of branches for up to 80 feet.

Iroko exhibits a significant color change, transitioning from a bright golden tone when freshly milled to a medium brown once fully oxidized.

It is highly durable and resistant to both decay and insect attack.

The texture is medium with open pores, and the natural luster is considered low.
